Brent Council were the client and had appointed Sampson Associates to develop an effective but stylish link walkway plus feature entrance canopies to connect the front wing of the school with the rear refubished half which featured a multi use sports hall and dining.
The architects design intent was to feature a patent glazed mono pitch canopy fixed off the new refurbished building plus gabled entrance, then turn 90º across the play ground to meet up the main wing of the school. The issue here was that at this point the levels increased by 1.3m due to stepped access with existing building face having may angles and therefore was the only dual pitch element of the scheme.
Working with the main contractor GMS Building Services we effectively delivered on time a canopy solution as intended by the architect with columns erected in advance to allow the raised block and beam walkway to be laid and install the glazed feature balustrade.
The installation took 1 week to complete with groundworks by GMS
